Objective

Upon completition of the course the student has a clear understanding of LAN switches and of the importance of the virtual local area networks (VLAN) of today's enterprise networks. In addition, students are able to independently determine necessary VLANs to the laboratory switches. They are able to determine the necessary sub-Interfaces and the required IPv4 address spaces to the routers that perform traffic between VLANs. Students will also be able to identify the most important remote network protocols used in wide area networks. In addition, he has a basic knowledge of information security in order to assess the organization's local area network, and he knows how to configure the LAN switches and routers appropriately. In problem situations students will be able to test the functionality of the different parts of the network to find and eliminate network problems.

Content

The course covers topics: redundant network switches and virtual local area network (VLAN) principles, as well as the routing between VLANs, VTP and STP protocols. Wireless local area networks (WLAN) as part of local area networks. Remote networks (WANs), the most common WAN protocols??, network security and access lists on routers, Network Address Translation (NAT) and other IP address network services, and troubleshooting of computer networks in problem situations.
