Objective

You know the basic principles of digital systems and understand the main differences between analog and digital circuits.
You know how the number systems (binary, hexadecimal, octal) in digital systems operate and are able to do conversions between them.
You are able to use basic logical functions, design simple digital circuits using different methods, and can implement these circuits using logic gates.
You know the basic principles of sequential logic circuits and are able to implement a state machine using sequential logic components.

Content

What are the differences between analog and digital circuits?
Why digital circuits are used and what benefits they provide?
How number systems are utilized in digital systems and how to easily do conversions between them?
How logic gates and circuits operate, how to design logic functions and implement them using e.g. Karnaugh map?
What kind of components are used in sequential logic circuits and how to implement a state machine (Moore, Mealy) using flip-flops?

Accomplishment methods
