Objective
After successfully completing this study unit, the student: is capable of perceiving the physical and mental environment as a source for design motifs can interpret observations and phenomena by means of design and architecture is able to recognize design solutions in the background of items and products understands the relationship between the structure and the form proceeds consistently from conceiving the design problem to the complete design solution can communicate design concepts and solutions through scale model working and drawings identifies personal strengths in spatial and furniture design
Content
The study unit contains two design tasks In the furniture design task, the students create co-furniture for existing furniture. The new furniture has a different function but it has to be structurally and visually compatible with the existing one. The new furniture will be represented by a model at 1:5 scale. In the spatial design task, the students create two spaces with two different atmospheres. The spaces should express spatial properties and feelings of two different phenomena. The phenomena will be abstract and the atmospheres will be created by architectural means. The plans will be represented by a model at 1:20 scale.
