Objective

The course is divided into two sections: art history and design history.
Art history:
- students learn the history of Western Art from the pre-historical period to the present.
After successfully completing the course, students are able to:
- art historical time segment of a line
- to identify the basic threat of the different art seasons

Design history:
Understanding the history of style in their own profession and recognizing the special elements of different style periods.
Design  in society, for example, how new materials and inventons have impacted on design.

After successfully completing the course, students are able to:
- define the style timeline
- determine differences between various style periods in history
- describe the  history of style in their own profession
- discuss design's social meaning  

Content

Art history:
Students learn:
- the chronological art periods
- the characteristics of art in different historical periods

Design history:
Students will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the history of style in their own professions and recognize the special elements of different style periods.
After successfully completing the course, students are able to: define the style timeline, determine differences between styles in history, discuss the history of style in their own profession and discuss the social meaning of design.
