Objective
After completing the principles of EU part of this course (3 credits) the student will be able to: Explain why the EU was established and what are the key events in its history Explain the roles of the EU institutions and the decision-making process Describe the key policies and current issues After completing the language technology part of this course (2 credits), the student will be able to: explain the basic concepts of language technology (writing and speech) apply tools used in proofreading use termbanks and electronic dictionaires use tools for cross-language searches use tools for machine translation (MT) explain the latest tools for speech recognition (speech to text processing)
