Objective
The student is able to use appropriate business English in written and oral communication intepret and produce business documents and reports required for international trade use customer-oriented and polite language style for handling problem situations both orally and in writing efficiently use modern tools for communication and have the computer skills required in working life related to business correspondence undersand the significance of communication for organizations recognize and organize the practices of organizational communication communicate effectively in a multicultural environment produce business documents for internal and external correspondence participate in and produce materials for PR campaigns
Content
written communication in various areas of purchasing, logistic services, and marketing: inquiries, quotations, offers, contracts, invoicing, packing and shipping documents, claims, memoranda, reports, advertisements telephone calls and other spoken communications related to the above documents routine messages in foreign trade, enquiries, requests for quotations, quotations, messages concerning quotations, logistics, accounting, letters, emails, and documents. terms and conditions in foreign trade, business correspondence, punctuation, and abbreviations. internal organisational correspondence: press releases, memos, presentations. PR in organisations
Assessment criteria, good (3)
Evaluation scale: Excellent (5), Good (4-3), Satisfactory (2-1), Fail (0) Grades 3-5 refer to language level B2 Additional requirement is active participation. Active participation means: Students are present 75% of the contact classes, unless something else is mentioned. Language teachers keep records of student presence. Exams cannot be taken if the course has been failed due to absence. The course has to be taken again. Students take care that the course material, mentioned in the study plan, is available during the class, e.g. course book. Students participate in the tasks given by the teacher during the contact classes. Students do home or virtual tasks according to the instructions and the time line.
