Objective

The student will be able to make various types of simple mechanical components safely from common metallic materials by  welding and plate work techniques. The student will be able to assemble, disassemble, and service machinery safely by using appropriate tools and techniques.The student can carry out small repair machining, welding, and plate work obeying all safety rules onboard.

Content

Plate work: thermal cutting methods, plate folding, and plate structures. Welding: weldability, weld defects, welding additives, and shielding gases. Cutting with chip removal: cuttability, tool materials, tool wear, cutting values, and fits. Mounting technique: mounting and dismounting techniques, fits, lifting, and conveyance. Occupational safety.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

Excellent (5), good (4-3), satisfactory (2-1); fail (0).
