Objective

After successsfully completing this course, students will be able to utilize hierarchical models of networking solutions in the design of switched networks. Students will be able to build a secure switched network in the laboratory. They will be able to test various protocols and networking technologies for switched networks and  be able to solve problematical situations within the allotted time.

Content

Hierarchical models of switched networks. Implementing virtual LANs. Spanning Tree protocol. Routing between virtual LANs. Implementing redundance and high availability in switched networks. Security of switched networks. WLAN solutions.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The achievement of learning outcomes will be measured primarily by timed tests. Each student will build a switched network in the networking technology's learning laboratory. After the completion of given tasks, the student is allowed to progress to the next stage. The achievement of the learning outcomes will also be measured by a web-based multiple-choice module and final exams. Assessment scale: Excellent (5), good (4-3), satisfactory (2-1), fail (0)
