Objective

After this study unit, a student is able to describe basic components and operating principles of process control systems in power production analyze the main measurement, control, valve and motor loops of a boiler plant operate human-machine interfaces (HMI) of power plant control systems run power plant simulators and analyze process dynamics related to them.

Distributed control systems (DCS) and programmable logic controllers (PLC) of power plants Control room graphics and operation Operation of measurement, control, on-off valve and motor loops Management of water, steam production, fuels, air, combustion, turbines and generators, and loops and control strategies related to them Safety logic systems Control of auxiliary systems Supervisory control and data acqusition (SCADA) for optimization of production Training with real-time power plant simulators
