Objective
Detection of potential overload and underload situations of the ship's main propulsion machinery and auxiliary engines. Co-operation with the bridge to ensure sufficient power in different loading conditions. Operations according to the ISM Code and their management. Knowledge of marine fuels and lubricants and their properties. Choosing correct oil products and fuels as well as management of bunkering operations safely and following environmentally-friendly practicies.
Content
Operations of main propulsion machinery and auxiliary engines in different load conditions. Co-operation between the bridge and the engine room. Operations of machinery due to starting and stopping as well as in exceptional and emergency situations. Marine fuels and lubricants, their properties and characters, manufacturing processes, and different types of necessary additives. Classifications for application and testing methods onboard and ashore. Bunkering methods and ensuring correct bunkered amount, possible avoidable errors and awareness of their risk to Health and Environment.
