Objective
• You understand the role of emergency care as part of the social and health care service system and you know its basic and specialist tasks
• You understand the significance and responsibilities of emergency care operators in the decision-making concerning the patient's treatment and guidance
• You are able to act as a paramedic in the emergency care service system, in cooperation with authorities and in accordance with agreed operating methods and plans
• You understand the core tasks of emergency response operations and know the principles of task processing, risk assessment and unit deployment among emergency care operators and other authorities
• You are familiar with the legislation concerning ambulance transportation and emergency driving as well as the principles of anticipatory driving, and you are able to use ambulance safety equipment.

• Current legislation concerning social and health care and emergency care, national regulations and programmes, international and national recommendations
• Administrative and organizational responsibility in emergency care
• Road Traffic Act (Tieliikennelaki 267/1981)
• National electronic patient care system of out-of-hospital emergency medical services
• Cooperation with the authorities and the basics of operative management
• Safety culture
