Objective

Knowledge, understanding and proficiency:
- Ability to safely perform and monitor all cargo operations
- Familiarity with physical and chemical properties of chemical cargoes
- Take precautions to prevent hazards
- Apply occupational health and safety precautions
- Take precautions to prevent pollution of the environment
- Monitor and control compliance with legislative requirements

Content

Chemical tanker design, systems and equipment
Pump theory and characteristics, including types of cargo pumps and their safe operation
Tanker safety culture and implementation of safety-management system
Monitoring and safety systems, including the emergency shutdown
Cargo measurements and calculations
Cargo-related operations
Cargo-related operation plans, procedures and checklists
Calibration and use of monitoring and gas-detection systems, Instruments and equipment
Manage and supervise personnel with cargo-related responsibilities
Information contained in a Material Data Sheet (MSDS)
Hazards and control measures associated with chemical tanker cargo operations
Safe working practices, risk assessment and personal shipboard safety
Common industry guidelines and port regulations

Basic training for oil and chemical tanker cargo operations BTTP (A-V/1-1-1)
