Objective

The students have a basic command of the requirements for oral communication and know how to act comprehensibly and appropriately in different situations related to higher education studies. The students know the means of verbal and non-verbal communication and can display the characteristics of the Finnish communication culture. They can conduct a presentation for professional or educational purposes, give feedback and manage fluently in different group work situations. Finnish language proficiency level: B1.1–B1.2 (CEFR).

Content

The course introduces the Finnish communication culture and characteristics of verbal and non-verbal communication. The course focuses on the Finnish language skills needed in higher education studies and provides practice in using versatile grammatical structures and vocabulary. The course gives practice on how to communicate in a group, how to participate in a conversation, how to prepare and conduct an oral presentation and how to give feedback.

Student has achieved the course objectives fairly. Student is able to identify and use the course subject area’s concepts and understands the conditions of knowledge and skills development.

Student has achieved the course objectives well, even though the knowledge and skills need improvement on some areas. Student is able to use well the course concepts and to apply his/her knowledge in study and work situations. Student is able to analyze his/her own knowledge and skills.

Learn-verkko-oppimisympäristö ja sen digitaaliset materiaalit.

Yksilölliset oppimisväylät

Opintojaksolla on aikataulutettua opetusta, pienryhmätyöskentelyä ja itsenäisesti ja ryhmässä tehtäviä oppimistehtäviä.

Etäopetusta on säännöllisesti 1-2 kertaa viikossa. Etäopetuksessa on opettajajohtoista työskentelyä sekä pienryhmätyöskentelyä. Opiskelijoilta edellytetään aktiivista osallistumista etäopetukseen ja pienryhmätyöskentelyyn.

Opettajan ohjausta on saatavilla etäopetuskertojen yhteydessä ja myös muina aikoina.

Opiskelu tapahtuu Learn-ympäristössä. Pääsy opintojaksoalustalle aukeaa opintojakson alkamispäivänä. Etäopetuskerrat toteutetaan pääsääntöisesti Teams-ryhmässä. Osallistuminen edellyttää nettiyhteyden lisäksi kuva- ja ääniyhteyttä.

Opintojaksolla on itsenäisesti ja ryhmänä tehtäviä arvioitavia tehtäviä. Tehtävät on palautettava annetussa aikataulussa.

Opintojaksolla hyödynnetään erilaisia palautteenantotapoja. Niitä voivat olla esimerkiksi kirjallinen ja suullinen palaute. Lisäksi voidaan hyödyntää myös vertaispalautteen antoa.

TKI ja työelämäyhteistyö

Opintojaksolla tehdään alakohtaisen sanaston, viestinnän ja etenkin koulutuspolkujen harjoituksia.

Tentit ja muut määräajat

Opintojaksolla on aikataulutettua opetusta, pienryhmätyöskentelyä ja palautettavia tehtäviä. Tarkempi aikataulu löytyy Learn-alustalta.

Opintojakso päättyy toteutuksen tiedoissa ilmoitettuna aikana, johon mennessä kaikki oppimistehtävät sekä muut opintojakson suorittamiseen liittyvät tehtävät on oltava tehtyinä.

Ryhmä on monikulttuurinen.

Opiskelijan työmäärä

1 op vastaa noin 27 tuntia opiskelijan työtä, eli 5 op:n opintojaksolla opiskelijan työmäärä on n. 135 t., johon sisältyy opetukseen ja ryhmätyöskentelyyn osallistuminen, tehtävät ja materiaaliin tutustuminen.

Tehtäväkohtaiset arviointikriteeristöt saatavilla Learn-verkko-oppimisymäristöstä. Opintojakson kokonaisarvosana perustuu kurssin tehtävien (toteutuksen osien) arviointiin. Hyväksyttyyn kokonaissuoritukseen vaaditaan kaikkien tehtävien hyväksyttyä suorittamista. Opettaja antaa tehtäväkohtaisen, oppimisprosessia tukevan palautteen.
