You are able to apply systems thinking in describing the root causes of current problems connected to your professional field.
You are able to identify correlations between the grand challenges of sustainability and current smaller scale issues.
You are able to formulate and vision potential solutions to current problems and justify these recommendations expertly.
You are able to assess different information sources critically.

Content

What are the current sustainability challenges on local, national and global scales?
What is systems thinking and how can it be applied in better understanding sustainability challenges?
How can systems thinking be applied in identifying the root causes of problems and in formulating potential solutions to them?
What types of information sources are reliable, and how can this be assessed?

Further information

The principles of problem-based and project-based learning are applied in the course implementation.

Evaluation

Students can
a. use professional vocabulary and concepts in an expert way in different situations.
b. assess information sources critically.
c. work as team members in working life expert duties and identify and describe the problems of the professional field.
e. choose appropriate models, methods, software and techniques according to the purpose and justify these choices.
f. promote teams' goal-oriented operation.
g. apply critically the ethical principles of the professional field in different situations.
