Environmental health and vaccination (5 cr)

Objective

You can take into account different environmental factors that can strengthen or threaten health.
You can promote healthy, safe and accessible environments for the different age groups.
You can collaborate in exceptional situations and emergencies of environmental health.
You can apply national and international rules and regulations applicable to the prevention and treatment of infectious diseases.
You master the prevention and treatment of infectious diseases in Finland and can advise a client accordingly.
You will complete the national Advanced Vaccination Competence course (1 ECTS credit).

How does the environment affect health and wellbeing?
What are the most common health risks of living and housing environments?
In what type of situations does a public health nurse collaborate with environmental health care?
What are the rules and regulations related to infectious diseases?
What are the main infectious diseases in different age groups and how do you prevent and treat the patients?
What are the factors and situations related to infectious diseases that increase the risks in different age groups?

Evaluation

Students can:
look for information in the key information sources of the field.
identify interrelated tasks.
use the key models and methods of public health nursing.
justify their actions according to the ethical principles of the professional field.

Study forms and methods

Työviikkopohjainen oppimisväylä:
Opintojakson sisältää kolme osaa: Rokotusosaamisen perusteet 2op, Rokotusosaamisen syventäminen 1op sekä asuin- ja elinympäristön terveysvaarat 2op.
Rokotusosaamisen perusteet 2 op ja Rokotusosaamisen syventäminen 1 op opintojaksot toteutuvat verkko-opetuksena molempiin sisältyy oppimistehtäviä ja tentti, lisäksi on yksi yhteinen työpajatyöskentely. Asuin- ja elinympäristön terveysvaaroihin perehdytään oppimistehtävien ja verkko-opintojen pohjalta. Lisäksi on yksi yhteinen seminaaritapaaminen.

Student workload

Opintojakso on laajuudeltaan 5 op eli 135 tuntia. Tämä jakautuu seuraavasti: Rokotusosaamisen perustee 2 op 54 tuntia, Rokotusosaamisen syventäminen 1 op = 27 tuntia ja asuin- ja elinympäristön terveysvaarat 2 op eli 54 tuntia.

Assessment methods and criteria

Rokotusosaamisen perusteet 2op ja rokotusosaamisen syventäminen 1 op on suoritettu hyväksytysti.
Asuin- ja elinympäristön terveysvaarat 2 op:
-oppimistehtävät on hyväksytysti suoritettu. Numeraalisesti arvioitava oppimistehtävä. Arviointikriteerit ilmoitetaan opintojakson learnissa.
