Objective
The student obtains an insight into manufacturing techniques in metal working as well as machine mounting and assembly. The student knows the safe and correct use of the machines and tools involved. The student is able to use the necessary measuring instruments. The student obtains an overall picture of machine elements: functioning, mounting, and maintenance.
Content
1.) Cutting with chip removal: boring, thread cutting, turning, milling, grinding, tools, and machine tools. 2.) Plate work and welding techniques: plate cutting and forming techniques, flame cutting, soldering, gas welding, manual metal arc welding, MIG/MAG, TIG, and submerged arc welding. 3.) Mounting and assembly: machine elements, tools, and working methods. 4.) Measurement techniques: tolerances, dimensioning errors, uncertainty of measurement, dimension traceability, measuring equipment, measurement methods and quality systems. 5.) Occupational safety: occupational safety card and hot work licence by the Finnish National Rescue Association (SPEK) on completion of the relevent courses, occupational safety in different working conditions.
