Objective

You can describe the systems of harvesting and transportingenergy wood. You can evaluate the technical, economic and ecologic sustainability of energy wood production. You can estimate the consequences of policy changes for the forest sector.

Content

How to chooseenergy wood harvesting sites? How do you select the harvesting system? How do you transport and handle energy wood? How do you organise the storage of energy wood?

Study material is linked to the learning environment.

Teaching methods

Scheduled track:
On-line course, in English worth 4 cr. Course consists of themes (one theme/ week). Timing depending on Campus-On-Line, most probably between mid-September - end of November.
Excursions and demonstrations worth 1 cr. Language depending on situation English/Finnish, translation to English when needed.

Exam schedules

All exams (also resit) are on-line exams.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

Studentscan: a) use professional vocabulary and concepts in an expert way in different situations. e) choose appropriate models, methods, software and techniques according to the purpose and justify these choices. f) work as team members in working life expert duties and identify and describe the problems of the professional field.

Assessment methods and criteria

Small exam at every week, final exam at the end of the course.

Qualifications

Attending the course requires completing the course of Pre-harvest planning.
