Objective
After this study unit, a student is able to explain the construction of steam boiler components analyze fuel properties analyze the function of boilers based on measurements calculate combustion based on chemical equations calculate energy balances and efficiency of boilers explain the working principle of water treatment devices explain how boilers are operated safety according to the regulations explain the construction and working principle of turbines calculate the power and efficiency of turbines.
Content
Fuels, their properties and handling Calculation of combustion (air demand, excess air ratio, composition of flue gases) Water treatment and water circuits of steam boilers Construction of boilers (furnace, heat exchangers, flue gas cleaning) Regulation of steam boilers Legistlation related to steam boilers Construction of different turbines (water, steam, gas) Working principle of turbines Calculation of efficiency and energy balances of boilers and turbines
