Objective

You know how to design digital archives and preservation processes. You are able to identify challenges of preserving different data. You are familiar with different regulations concerning digital preservation and common quality requirements for different types of data. You learn about technologies used in digital preservation.

Content

What kind of factors have to be considered when designing digital preservation? Which regulations, standards and recommendations affect digital archiving? Which are the quality criteria for digitising and the challenges in digital preservation?

Accomplishment methods

Based on Xamk's assessment guidelines for students' competence a−g, students can
d) be responsible for digital archiving operations and develop them independently.
e) assess different strategic approaches and justify their use from the viewpoint of management and development.
f) work independently in the expert duties of their professional field or as entrepreneurs.
