You understand how the division of land has affected the village landscape, the yard and the individual buildings.

You recognize the importance of laws, regulations and zoning in protecting the built cultural environment.

You know the construction materials and techniques of different eras and the methods of construction.

You know the basics of valuation in protecting a building and outline the restoration work that preserves the characteristics of the property.
