You can describe the crew members’ responsibilities and duties.
You can use accurate terminology when describing the operation of the main engine.
You can use accurate terminology when describing the ship’s fuel system.
You can use accurate terminology when describing the lubrication and cooling of machinery.
You can use accurate terminology when describing the construction and operation of selected auxiliary machinery.
You understand and can explain the key factors that affect safety onboard a ship, in general and more specifically from the engine crew’s perspective.
You can find and use online aids for language learning.
You can appropriately compose a CV/résumé in English.

In addition, competence evaluation according to STCW code tables A-III/1 and A-III/6 column 4 are used:
- English language publications relevant to engineering duties or the officer’s duties are correctly interpreted
- communications are clear and understood
