Objective

Knowledge and understanding of and proficiency in:
- dimensioning and selecting low voltage transformer components
- designing the overcurrent and contact voltage protection of the conversion circuit
- designing overcurrent and earth-fault protection for radially grounded and deactivated medium voltage networks
- protection and automation of electricity distribution networks

Content

- modeling of network components and loads
- power-sharing calculations
- calculation of short-circuit currents
- calculation of current leakage
- basic principles in the use of electricity distribution networks
- techno-economic planning of electricity distribution networks

Students can
- use professional vocabulary and concepts in an expert way in different situations
- choose appropriate models, methods, software and techniques according to the purpose and justify these choices

In addition, competence evaluation according to STCW code table A-III/6 column 4 are used:
- electrical distribution systems can be understood and explained with drawings/instructions
