Objective

Knowledge and understanding of and proficiency in:
- measurement and instrumentation techniques most commonly used in ship automation
- making simple programs for ship automation equipment
- understanding and using control and measurement technologies in ship automation
- calibrating the measurement equipment most commonly used in ship automation and interpret errors and inaccuracies
- analyzing and reporting research results in writing

- measuring instruments and actuators
- most common connections
- calibration equipment and methods
- P, PI, PID controller
- use and programming of programmable logic controller
- profinet and profibus fieldbuses
- structural design of field equipment and control systems
- device and application design
- analysis and reporting of measurement results

Qualifications

Basic of automation, control and measuring technics engineering
and/or
Automation, control and measuring technics engineering

Further information

Participation in all lessons and training sessions is obligatory.

Accomplishment methods

Students can:
- use professional vocabulary and concepts in an expert way in different situations
- work as team members in working life expert duties and identify and describe the problems of the professional field

In addition, competence evaluation according to STCW code table A-III/6 column 4 are used:
- selection and use of hand tools, measuring instruments, and testing equipment are appropriate and interpretation of results is accurate
- dismantling, inspecting, repairing and reassembling equipment are in accordance with manuals and good practice
- reassembling and performance testing is in accordance with manuals and good practice
