Objective
After completing the course, you are able to
• present the structure and components of the process automation system of a production plant
• describe the main tasks of process operations and operate user interfaces
• analyze basic circuits on the basis of a PI diagram and design system-independent functional descriptions and diagrams
• describe the use of essential field buses and protocols in industrial automation networks
• describe the utilization of artificial intelligence in process automation
• program and implement power plant automation instrumentation and motor circuits
• program and deploy smart transmitters and field buses
Content
What hardware components are needed for a process automation system?
How is data transferred, for example, from the boiler plant's measuring sensor to the power plant's remote control room and to the device controlled by the operator?
How are measurement, control, regulation, on-off valve and on-off motor circuits designed system-independently for a process automation system?
How are smart instruments and motor control units connected via industrial field buses and protocols?
How do bus standards, cloud services, and digitalization impact industrial applications?
How are measurement, control, regulation, on-off valve and on-off motor circuits programmed in an automation system?
How are intelligent field devices connected to an automation system using field buses?
