Objective

You know the basics of process industry unit and production processes, including control and management mechanisms.
You can identify the processes of production facilities based on flow and PI diagrams.
You can describe process and measuring devices, and the basic loops and positioning of instrumentation.
You can recognize production processes and related measurement and control loops from the DCS screen.
You can present the structure and components of a production plant's process automation system.

Content

What are the typical unit and overall processes in the process industry in terms of mechanical, heat transfer, mass transfer and chemical engineering, and what are the related environmental effects?
How are PI diagrams and DCS displays utilized in the identification of measurement, control, valve and motor loops and their operation?
How do you measure basic quantities such as temperature, pressure, flow, and level?
What are the basic functions of regulation and control loops and control parameters and their effect on control functionality and process?
How are loop descriptions made?
How does information transfer from the process measurement sensor to the remote control station and the controlled device?
