You have knowledge of the basic structures and properties of organic compounds and their functional groups and you know how to name them.
You know where to get reliable information about chemical legislation and the properties of chemicals?
You know the basic safety rules and methods of chemical laboratory work.
You know the basic chemical laboratory equipment and accessories.

How do you identify and name organic compounds?
What are the properties of the most important functional groups and what is their significance in the environment?
What kind of applications are there in organic chemistry?
What are the safety requirements for handling chemicals, considering their harmful chemical and physical properties to health and environment?
Where do you get information about chemical legislation and the properties of chemicals?
How do you carry out chemical analysis in practice?
What are the basic principles in safe laboratory work?

Qualifications

Attending the course requires knowledge of basic engineering chemistry (eg the course of Basic engineering physics and chemistry).

Evaluation

Assessment bases on entry-level know-how and skills so that students can:
a. use professional vocabulary systematically.
b. look for information in the key information sources of the field.
c. identify interrelated tasks.
e. use the key models, methods, software and techniques of the professional field.
