Objective
This course is part of the module Competence in Adult Care. After completing the course Surgery patient care 2: - you will have mastered the key treatment procedures and nursing methods used in the treatment of a surgery patient - you will have mastered the methods used to treat a perioperative patient - you can systematically assess the need for immediate treatment - you will know how to act in an emergency and in situations requiring immediate care - you will have mastered the medically assisted treatment used for surgical patients.
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
- Student systematically uses professional concepts when describing the care of a surgical patient. - Student understands the patient’s care needs and the methods of care and nursing in the patient’s perioperative care. - Student acts professionally and responsibly in unexpected care situations and emergencies. - Student is familiar with the principles of safe medically assisted treatment and the key medicine groups used in perioperative care. - Student knows how to perform drug calculations without errors.
Assessment criteria, good (3)
- Student uses professional concepts expertly when describing the care of a surgical patient. - Student is able to actively assess the patient's care needs and the methods of care and nursing in the patient’s perioperative care. - Student is able to assess and act independently in unexpected care and emergency situations. - Student is able to apply the principles of safe medically assisted treatment and knows the key medicine groups used in perioperative care. - Student knows how to perform drug calculations without errors.

- Student uses professional concepts expertly and extensively when describing the care of a surgical patient. - Student is able to critically assess the patient’s care needs and the methods of care and nursing in the patient’s perioperative care. - Student acts appropriately and professionally in unexpected care situations and emergencies. - Student is able to apply and assess the principles of safe medically assisted treatment and knows the key medicine groups used in perioperative care. - Student knows how to perform drug calculations without errors.
