Objective
After completing the course Acute Mental Health and Substance Abuse Nursing: - you will have deepened your competence in mental health and substance abuse care in an evidence-based manner and you will be able to identify risk factors related to customers’/patients’ mental health - you will know how to plan and implement interventions to promote health and functional capacity in a diverse manner - you know how to deepen your competence about the significance of nursing interaction in mental health and substance abuse work - you will have mastered drug calculations, become familiar with the key medicine groups used in mental health care and substance abuse work, and you will be able to administer and evaluate pharmacotherapy - you will understand the impacts of the health and social services reform on the service system in the operational environments of mental health and substance abuse care - you will understand the operating principles required for sustainable development - you will have analysed the special features related to wellbeing at work and the multi-professional workplace community in mental health care and substance abuse work.
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
- Student knows the most common care needs of a customer in mental health and substance abuse care and is able to apply care measures according to the patient’s needs. - Student can calculate the doses of the medicines used in mental health and substance abuse care flawlessly. - Student uses professional concepts related to mental health and substance abuse care systematically and is able to justify activities in accordance with the principles of sustainable development. - Student can apply factors that promote personal and the work community’s wellbeing in the operating environment of mental health and substance abuse care.

- Student knows the most common care needs of a customer in mental health and substance abuse care and is able to apply care measures according to the customer’s needs on the basis of research-based knowledge and instructions. - Student can calculate the doses of the medicines used in mental health and substance abuse care flawlessly. - Student uses professional concepts related to mental health and substance abuse care expertly and is able to justify activities in accordance with the principles of sustainable development in a versatile manner. - Student can apply factors that promote personal and the work community’s wellbeing in the operating environment of mental health and substance abuse care and find targets for development.
