Objective

This course is part of the Basics of adult care module. After completing the course Internal medicine patient care: - You will know the treatment path for internal and palliative patients. - You will understand the mechanisms by which disease is caused and the changes they cause in the body. - You will be familiar with the key treatment procedures and nursing methods used in the treatment of an internal medicine patient. - You can apply knowledge of medically assisted treatment and pain treatment methods. - You can apply information about special diets as part of patient care and guidance. - You will know how to guide and support the patient and their family at different stages of their clinical pathway.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

- Student knows the tasks of different operating and service units and the principles of service guidance as part of the care and service pathway for internal and palliative patients. - Student knows how to name the mechanisms that cause diseases and the changes they cause in the body. - Student understands individual functions of clinical care and demonstrates some knowledge of evidence-based care in internal medicine. - Student knows the principles of safe medically assisted treatment, the medicine groups used in treating an internal medicine patient and is able to carry out dosage calculations flawlessly. - Student can identify the connection between dietary care and illnesses in the patient's overall care. - Student can identify patient/customer guidance needs and is, under guidance, able to provide guidance in different operational environments.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

- Student is able to describe the tasks of different operating and service units and the principles of service guidance as part of the care and service pathway for internal and palliative patients and provide reasoning. - Student can justify their description of the mechanisms that cause diseases and the changes they cause in the body. - Student can apply clinical care based on customer needs and demonstrates knowledge of evidence-based nursing of an internal medicine patient. - Student knows how to apply the principles of safe pharmacotherapy and is familiar with the medicine groups used in the treatment of internal medicine patients. Student is able to carry out dosage calculations flawlessly. - Student understands the connection between dietary care and illnesses in the patient’s overall care. - Student can identify patient or customer guidance needs and is able to independently provide guidance in different operational environments.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

- Student can assess the importance of different operating and service units as part of the care and service pathway for internal and palliative patients. Student can assess the significance of case management as part of a good care experience. - Student can describe the mechanisms that cause diseases and the changes they cause in the body in a versatile manner. - Student can assess clinical care functions based on customer needs and demonstrates knowledge of evidence-based nursing of an internal medicine patient. - Student knows how to apply the principles of safe pharmacotherapy in a professional manner and is familiar with the medicine groups used in the treatment of internal medicine patients. Student is able to carry out dosage calculations flawlessly. - Student can independently assess the connection between dietary care and illnesses in the patient's overall care. - Student can comprehensively identify patient/customer guidance needs and is able to actively provide guidance in different operational environments.
