Objective

This course is part of the Value and Knowledge Base of Early Childhood Education module. After completing the course, the student can - recognise factors affecting the child's growth and development. - apply developmental psychological knowledge when working with children and groups of children. - observe a child's actions and understand the importance of systematic observation in supporting the child's development.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student - recognises factors affecting the child’s growth and development. - interprets developmental psychological knowledge when working with children and groups of children. - describes the child’s actions based on observation.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student - analyses factors affecting the child’s growth and development and take them into consideration in their operations. - uses and applies developmental psychological knowledge in promoting the child’s growth and development. - analyses the child’s actions based on observation and applies the information they have received in supporting the child’s development.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student - assesses factors affecting the child’s growth and development and applies them in their operations. - analytically combines developmental psychological knowledge and competence in promoting the child’s growth and development. - assesses the child’s activities based on systematic observation and justifiably combines the information they have received to support the child’s development.
