Objective

Students know the services of the child protection and multi-professional working. Students analyze the challenges and possibilities of the foster care. Students know the reasons of the custody. Students can justify the use of restriction measures and recognize the Children Rights and the differences between nurture, punishment ja restriction. Students know how to support parenthood during the foster care. Students know the needs of the attachment.

Content

The position of the foster care in the services of the child protection. Challenges and possibilities in foster care. Multi-professionality in the child protection. The reasons of the custody. The Children Rights and restriction measures. Supporting parents, foster parents, and parenthood in the foster care. Attachment theory.

Basic knowledge about the child protection.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

Pass: The student knows the services of the child protection and multi-professional working. The student analyzes the challenges and possibilities of the foster care. The student knows the reasons of the custody. The student can justify the use of restriction measures and recognize the Children Rights and the differences between nurture, punishment and restriction. The student knows how to support parenthood during the foster care. The student knows the needs of the attachment. Fail: The student does not show her/his knowledge on the above topics.
