Objective
The students are able to write using moderately complex language. The students are provided with resources and strategies to enhance their written communication skills so that they are able to deliver messages to their readers. The students have good written language skills to work in an international environment in their field. Target level CEFR (Common European Framework Reference level): B2.2
Content
The course will focus on helping students improve their written communication skills through practical activities. The topics include workplace report, summary, user documentation and basic grammar exercises (e.g. prepositions, passive voice and tense).
Qualifications
Prerequisite studies: SY220303 Työelämän englanti, SY222303 English for Working Life or CEFR level B2.
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
The students - write understandable texts related to their field using simple basic grammatical structures - understand the main points of some professional texts - use sources easily available (such as free dictionaries) in their learning

The students - write texts related to their field using a variety of sentence structures and complex words - write consistently and use appropriate style - understand the content of some professional texts - use different sources and dictionaries to assist in language learning
Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
The students - write professional texts related to their field using a variety of complex sentence structures and words - write consistent professional texts using professional style and relevant vocabulary - understand the content of some professional texts and are able to evaluate the content critically - use different sources and dictionaries to assist in language learning and find appropriate terms using reliable sources - understand and use the vocabulary of their field skillfully and correctly - use complex linguistical structures almost without any mistakes
