Objective
The student extends their knowledge of the basic structures and vocabulary of the target language. The student deepens their knowledge of the culture and customs of the language area. CERF level: starting level A1 - target level A2 on the European Framework of Reference for Languages.
Content
Pronunciation review, oral and written communication in everyday situations (e.g. talking about family, the weather, shopping and eating out, past events and writing an email). Key grammatical structures (e.g. be verbs with adjectives, comparative and superlative adjectives, verbs that change vowel, reflexive verbs, the past perfect and hace que construction, gustar/encantar/interesar and doler verbs, possessive pronouns and dative forms of personal pronouns). Language learning strategies.
Qualifications
Spanish in English 1 (V200BJ44), Espanja 1 (V200BJ41) or equivalent (CEFR level A1).
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
The student identifies and understands the basic structures covered in the course and uses the basic vocabulary in a limited manner. The student can cope with simple written and oral communication situations in an understandable way. The student recognises the importance of keeping to deadlines and being responsible.

The student uses the basic structures and vocabulary covered in the course in a largely consistent way. The student is able to cope with written and oral communication situations. They can keep to deadlines and act responsibly.
Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
The student applies the basic structures and vocabulary covered in the course consistently. The student copes with written and oral communication situations in everyday life in an appropriate manner. They act responsibly and clearly assess the impact of their own actions.

Students have the possibility to demonstrate their previously acquired competences, for which they do not have a certificate issued by a higher education institution, by taking the RPL (Recognition of prior learning) test.
