Objective
Students will - become familiar with supportive signs and their use in supporting communication - practise supportive signs to do with family, time, people, activities and food - know at least 50 signs on completing the course
Content
The student will learn what supportive sign language is and how it can be used as a communication support. The aim is for students to learn around 50 new signs through independent practice and be able to use them in simple, everyday situations. The course cover signs to do with family, time, hobbies and food and we practise using these in everyday situations.
Assessment criteria, approved/failed
The grade is passed: The student demonstrates through the course assignments that he/she has mastered at least 40% of the course objectives. By completing the tasks, the student has become familiar with the sign-supported speech. He/she has practised signs on different topics. He/she will be able to use 50 different types of signs. In addition, an approved mark requires the successful completion of all the assignments in the course. Fail grade: The course will be marked as failed if the student does not demonstrate that he/she has achieved the minimum level of competence. The mark "failed" means that the student has achieved between 0 and 39 % of the learning outcomes of the course. A fail mark is also given if not all the coursework has been completed by the end of the course.
