Objective

In this course, we delve into the development and evolution of civic activism in Finland and around the world. Students explore the foundations of civic activism and develop their own campaign in groups. The goal is to motivate individuals to engage with society and to provide opportunities for impact, thus promoting active citizenship. The course is suitable for students of all disciplines. On successfully completing this course, students will: - Be familiar with the foundations and resources of civic activism and understand the role of activism in promoting social change. - Have the skills to design and implement a participatory, innovative and inclusive civic action project that promotes social change. - Have the skills to promote active citizenship and social engagement. - Understand how to promote civic activism when working with different groups (e.g. different age groups) and know where the line is when it comes to encouraging activism.
