    Learning outcomes of the course
    Knowledge, understanding and proficiency of:
    - generation of electric and magnetic fields and how they are applied to electrical machinery.
    - working principles,characteristics and design of transformers, electric motors and generators.
    - synchronizing and switching on generators to a ship's electric network.
    Prerequisites and co-requisites
    Preceding study requirements are completion of Basics of marine electrical engineering (209911816) and Marine electrical engineering (209911916) or their acceptance.
    Course contents
    Working principles and constructions including maintenance of transformers, synchronous machines and DC commutator machines, equivalent circuits. Applications. (STCW A-III/1 ja A-III/2)
