Objective

The student will improve her/his competence in professional English communication in her/his field. S/he will have a better command of field-related terminology and practise English communication in expert tasks. After completing the course, the student is able to accurately describe maintenance procedures with regards to the main propulsion machinery and auxiliary engines, discuss matters related to personal occupational safety, compose a spare part order and discuss the future of marine technology and seafaring from the perspective of marine engineering.
The student is able to adjust her/his style of communication according to the situation and the other party, as well as the language skills of the people participating in the communication.

Assessment is primarily based on an examination.

Qualifications

Participation in this course requires that the student has completed the courses Maritime English 1 and Maritime English 2, or is simultaneously completing them.
