Objective

You are familiar with the different stages of the research process. You are familiar with the main topics and methods of research and development work in the tourism and hospitality sector. You can analyze the needs for research information and choose the best information sources for your thesis as well as assess the sources critically. You can plan, carry out and report a small scale research project. You know the principles of research and development communication as well as the thesis instructions and seminar practices of Xamk and your own degree programme.

Content

What is included in research and development work in tourism and hospitality sector and which methods are used? What is a bachelor’s thesis like at a university of applied sciences? What are the key concepts related to research? How does research proceed as a process? How do you carry out qualitative and quantitative research from the viewpoint of data collection and analysis? How do you handle the variety of research data using information technology? How do you present research results and development proposals? How do you find appropriate sources for research and development work?
