Objective

You learn about the principles and methods of measurements. You understand the operation and use of various measuring devices. You know what the analysis and interpretation of measurement results involve. You are able to critically analyze measurement and know methods for reducing measurement errors. You are able to find information about standards and guidelines, and apply them in you work.​

Further information

The course consists of 3 ECTS credits of theory and a practical part of 2 ECTS credits concentrating on, for example, mechanical or optical measurements, the operation and use of various measuring equipment, such as sensors, data loggers and so on. Students can select the topic of the practical part according to their interests, and measurements are carried out in different environments and locations, such as in laboratory or in field conditions.

Evaluation

Students can:
a. use professional vocabulary and concepts in an expert way in different situations.
b. assess information sources critically
e. choose appropriate models, methods, software and techniques according to the purpose and justify these choices.
g. apply critically the ethical principles of the professional field in different situations.
