Objective

You understand the basic concepts of civil engineering.

You know the most common structures and understand where they are used in buildings.

You can identify risk structures of different eras.

You are familiar with the basics of repair planning and know the special corrective actions relating to indoor climate issues.

Content

What are the structural components of buildings and what how do the different parts function?

How is the condition of structures assessed (moisture behavior of structures and the movement of impurities)?

How does a repair project progress?

What types of repair methods can be used?

Evaluation

Students can
a. use professional vocabulary and concepts in an expert way in different situations.
b. assess information sources critically.
c. work as team members in working life expert duties and identify and describe the problems of the professional field.
d. assess operations in customer, user and target groups situations.
e. choose appropriate models, methods, software and techniques according to the purpose and justify these choices.
f. promote teams' goal-oriented operation.
g. apply critically the ethical principles of the professional field in different situations.
