Objective
Opintojakson suoritettuaan opiskelija osaa ilmaista itseään suomeksi yksinkertaisissa tilanteissa. Opiskelija hallitsee yksinkertaiset fraasit, väite- ja kysymyslauseet sekä perussanastoa. Opiskelija on tutustunut keskeisimpiin kieliopin ilmiöihin. Opintojakson suoritettuaan opiskelija osaa soveltaa taitojaan todellisissa tilanteissa pääasiassa suullisesti mutta myös kirjallisesti. Opiskelija pystyy kasvattamaan sanavarastoaan ja kielitietoaan erilaisia lähteitä hyödyntämällä, myös itsenäisesti. Ydinosaamiseen sisältyvät kansainvälisyysosaaminen ja kansainvälistymisosaaminen.
After the completion of the course, the student will be able to communicate in Finnish in some basic everyday situations. The student can use simple phrases, express statements and ask questions and knows basic vocabulary. The student is familiar with some key features of the Finnish grammar. After the completion of the course, the student can apply his/her skills in practice, mainly orally but also in writing. The student is able to independently expand his/her vocabulary resources and improve his/her Finnish skills using different sources. Core competences include those required for international interaction and operation.
Content
introducing oneself and his/her family, greeting someone, making acquaintances, simple conversation related to e.g. shopping and eating out, telephone conversations, vowel harmony, verb types, verb forms in present tense, singular partitive case

Requires good independent study skills since real-time teacher participation is very minimal. Attending the course requires English skills enabling academic studies and some IT-skills.
