Objective

You know the key terminology of forestry logistics and industry.
You know the development of logging and transportation technology.
You know how wood procurement logistics is planned.
You know how timber volume and quality are measured.
You know the principles of pulp and paper manufacturing.
You know sawmilling and plywood manufacturing technologies.

Content

How do you evaluate forest stands prior to and after harvesting?
How do you determine timber volume and quality?
How do you select the equipment for logging and transportation?
What are the demands set by further processing for raw material?

Study forms and methods

Scheduled track:
Lectures in classroom, excursions and demonstrations, group assignments in classroom and in forest.

b. look for information in the key information sources of the field.

Qualifications

Finnish forestry is an introductory course to this subject and should be completed prior to this course.
