Objective
You are able to describe the main characteristics of the Finnish society – history, way of life, economic and business environment and working opportunities, identify and describe the new trends in the development of the Finnish society, name famous Finns and their contribution to the image of Finland worldwide, identify the trend sand the challenges in the development of the Finnish society, summarise the knowledge orally and in writing in English, find information, enhance your own expertise and also contribute some of it to the other participants in the course, communicate effectively in English on these subjects
Content
What is the past of the Finnish nation? What is social development in Finland? What are the roots of the economy and what is the economy today? What is studying and working in Finland like? What is the international business today like? How to communicate on these topics in English?
Course material
All material is in the online learning platform Moodle.
Study forms and methods
Scheduled track:
This is an online course (eCampus) without scheduled meetings.
Independent track:
The course is online and it is possible to take and complete in own time.
Blended track:
Student can decide the pace of completing the course. As soon as all the assignments are submitted they have the right to take the exam and get the grade within 2 weeks of the date of the exam.
Timing of exams and assignments
Tests are arranged at the end of the course, done individually.
Student workload
Students are expected to spend at least 50 hours in researching the topics in the course and 20 hours for completing the assignments.

Assessment methods and criteria
Student has to complete at least 75% of the tasks in order to receive a grade.

51 - 60% = 1
61 - 70% = 2
Assessment criteria, good (3-4)
71 - 80% = 3
81 - 90% = 4
Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
91 - 100% completion
