Objective
Knowledge, understanding and proficiency of:
- Steam technology basics and concepts, marine steam boiler plants and systems, operation, supervising and control of steam boilers and engineer responsibilities.
- Safe operation, supervision and maintenance of boiler units and plants and system components.
Content
The basics of steam technology, steam diagrams, enthalpy and steam process calculations. Marine steam boiler types and constructions, working principles and boiler control automation. Boiler safety and safety devices, burners and supervision of steam boilers, engineer watch of boiler plant and steam systems. Maintenance of boiler plant and steam system components; safe work procedures with steam system operations and maintenance.

Scheduled track:
You will attend teaching and guidance sessions as specified in the schedule.
Independent track:
You attend your study in the multi-mode education. Degree of Deck Officer, operational level (STCW A-II/1) OR Degree of Engineer Officer, operational level (STCW A-III/1) OR Certificate of Competency: Deck Officer / Engineer Officer IS REQUIRED.
