Objective
You understand basic aspects of the Internet of Things (IoT) in international markets.
You can analyse application of IoT in business and its influence on international business processes.
You become familiar with essential matters concerning the structure, function and information security of the Internet.
Content
What opportunities does the Internet of Things (IoT) provide for business?
How is IoT applied in international business processes?
What kind of legal, business, social, cultural and technological risks are associated with IoT?
What are the principles of information security and how is IoT connected with information security?
Course material

- a set of readings provided at the beginning of the course
- a set of business cases involving IoT in international businesses.
Study forms and methods
At the end of the course, you are able to:
- understand the concept of IoT
- recognize legal, business, social, cultural and technological aspects and risks associated with IoT.
- understand basic principles of information security.
Timing of exams and assignments
The course evaluation will consists of:
- presentation of case solutions regarding IoT in international business (40%)
- active participation during the intensive classes (20%)
- final test for checking theoretical and practical concepts (40%)
International cooperation
The course is a part of the Codeshare Teaching project realized jointly with the Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences (Germany), University of Cape Coast (Ghana), Koblenz University of Applied Sciences (Germany), and other possible partners from the USA and South Korea. Students from the aforementioned partner universities will take part in this course in addition to the DIB degree students from XAMK.
Students of the aforementioned partner universities will study using online synchronous and asynchronous options.

The evaluation will be based on the following:
- You understand key concepts regarding the IoT
- You can use given set of tools to innovate a new business model
- You can apply the technology and tools to understand own business or other existing businesses
