Objective
The student learns how to separate different forms of pain, how to assess the pain by using suitable assessment methods and knows how to choose different treatments variously. The student knows how to apply the knowledge in the patients or clients treatment and rehabilitation.
Content
The content consists of 5 themes, parts 1 and 2 of which are mandatory: 1. What is pain? (1 cr ', compulsory) 2nd pain assessment (2 cr, compulsory). The remaining 2 ECTS can be chosen from the following sections: 3. Pharmacological treatment of pain (1 cr, voluntary), 4. Non-pharmacological treatment of pain (1 cr, voluntary) 5. Chronic pain and its management (1 cr, voluntary).
Course material
The study material is in an online course. The course also has self-study material, which the student can get acquainted with if they wish. The student may also use other material in preparation for the final test at the end of the online course.

The course is an automated online course that the student can complete on their own schedule and pace.

If desired, the student can utilize work life experience e.g. performing the pain assessment task.
Timing of exams and assignments
At the end of the automated online course, there is a final test that the student can take at the stage when he or she has completed all the tasks in the course.

Part 3 = Non-drug treatment of pain
Part 4 = Chronic pain and its management
The course does not deal with medical pain management.

The course is fully automated. Self-assessment tests have been built inside the online course to help you prepare for the final test.

Assessment methods and criteria
The course is evaluated on the basis of the final test. The rating scale is T1 to K5.
The final test can be done 1 + 2 repetitions.
