Objective
The student will improve her/his competence in professional English communication in her/his field. S/he will have a better command of field-related terminology and practise English communication in expert tasks. After completing the course, the student is able to prepare and give a detaikled presentation on a maintenance procedure with regards to the main propulsion machinery or auxiliary engines, accurately describe the responsibilities and duties related to the engine watch and compose appropriate reports, analyse the principles of technical reporting and write an abstract.
The student is able to adjust her/his style of communication according to the situation and the other party, as well as the language skills of the people participating in the communication.

All materials will be provided by the teacher.
Study forms and methods
Scheduled track:
The student attends the required number of lessons and completes obligatory assignments as instructed by the teacher.
Independent track:
Each case must be initiated by the student and will be independently decided.
Blended track:
Each case must be initiated by the student and will be independently decided.
RDI and work-related cooperation

Assessment methods and criteria
Assessment of written skills is primarily based on an instructed assignment.
Assessment of oral skills is primarily based on a presentation which is individually prepared and delivered.
Qualifications
Participation in this course requires that the student has completed the courses Maritime English 1, Maritime English 2, Marine Technology 1 and Marine Technology 2, or is simultaneously completing them.
