Objective
You will understand the pathway and specifics of care for an internal medicine and cancer patient.
You will understand the duties and responsibilities of a nurse in the care of internal medicine and cancer patients.
You are able to apply evidence-based data of major internal diseases and cancers.
You are able to assess the need for treatment in a systematic manner.
You know the key nursing interventions and diagnostic tests used in the treatment of internal medicine patients and patients with cancer.
You understand the basics of safe pharmacotherapy for an internal medicine and cancer patient by making use of pharmacology.
You apply pharmacotherapy skills in patient guidance and care.
You know how to guide the patient according to the principles that promote rehabilitation.
You know how to apply the principles of radiation safety.
You know the principles of blood transfusion safety.
You can document, report and consult according to the ISBAR method.
You improve in teamwork skills, value collegiality and understand the importance of these to patient and occupational safety.

What are the most common internal medicine diseases and cancers?
How does the patient's treatment path progress from diagnosis to treatment?
How do you apply evidence-based data to nursing an internal medicine and cancer patient?
What are the central nursing interventions and diagnostic tests used to treat an internal medicine patient and a cancer patient?
How do you plan, implement, and evaluate safe pharmacological and non-pharmacological care for the most predominant internal diseases and cancers?
How do you guide the patient and engage him or her in self-care?
How is advanced life support administered?
How do you carry out rehabilitation work in nursing?
How do you implement and ensure successful patient management?
How do you document, report and consult according to the ISBAR model?
How do you apply the principles of radiation safety?
How do you safely administer a blood transfusion?
How do you work as a member of a team, how do you practice collegiality? What is the significance of these for patient and occupational safety?

Study forms and methods
Studying includes contact teaching and independent online work. Completion of the course includes practice exams, learning assignments and preclinical training at campus (100 % attendance). Final exam. Assessment of competence in preclinical exercises.

Possible expert lectures or working life visits.
Timing of exams and assignments
All Learn practice exams and assignments included in the course must be completed before the preclinical training of the course. The final exam of the course is taken in the Exam (service for supervised electronic exams) and must be completed during the course. Assessment of competence in preclinical exercises will be performed at a pre-announced time.
