Environmental health and vaccination (5 cr)

Objective

You can take into account different environmental factors that can strengthen or threaten health.
You can promote healthy, safe and accessible environments for the different age groups.
You can collaborate in exceptional situations and emergencies of environmental health.
You can apply national and international rules and regulations applicable to the prevention and treatment of infectious diseases.
You master the prevention and treatment of infectious diseases in Finland and can advise a client accordingly.
You will complete the national Advanced Vaccination Competence course (1 ECTS credit).

How does the environment affect health and wellbeing?
What are the most common health risks of living and housing environments?
In what type of situations does a public health nurse collaborate with environmental health care?
What are the rules and regulations related to infectious diseases?
What are the main infectious diseases in different age groups and how do you prevent and treat the patients?
What are the factors and situations related to infectious diseases that increase the risks in different age groups?

Evaluation

Students can:
look for information in the key information sources of the field.
identify interrelated tasks.
use the key models and methods of public health nursing.
justify their actions according to the ethical principles of the professional field.

Study forms and methods

Työviikkopohjainen oppimisväylä:
Opintojakson sisältää kolme osaa: Rokotusosaamisen syventäminen 1op (verkkokurssi), tarttuvat taudit 2 op (verkkokurssi) ja asuin- ja elinympäristön terveysvaarat 2op.
Opintojaksoon kuuluu verkko-opetusta, työpaja- ja seminaarityöskentelyä, oppimistehtäviä ja asiantuntijavierailuja.

Course part description

Tarttuvat taudit (opettaja Taina Lehtonen) osuudessa järjestetään vuorovaikutteista opetusta AC - järjestelmän kautta. Webinaarit on merkitty työjärjestyksiin mutta ellei pääse osallistumaan webinaariin niin sen voi katsoa nauhoitteena Learnista.

Rokotusosaamisen syventäminen ( opettaja Liisa Korpivaara) osuudessa on yksi yhteinen työpajatyöskentely, muuten kurssi toteutuu verkossa.

Ympäristöterveydenhuollon ( opettaja Liisa Korpivaara) osuudessa on yksi seminaarityöskentelypäivä.

Oppimistehtävä / tentti asuin- ja elinympäristön terveysvaroista, arvioidaan asteikolla 1-5. Rokotusosaamisen syventäminen verkkokurssiin kuuluva tentti, arvioidaan hyväksytty-hylätty asteikolla.
Tarttuvat taudit osuuden tentti suoritetaan Learn- tenttinä, arviointiasteikko 1-5.
