Objective

You can study and analyse compressor cooling or heatpump systems with the help of the log p, h diagram.
You can identify the most common equipment and components related to cooling and heatpump systems and their function in the process. You are familiar with the most common refrigerants and their properties.
You can utilise free cooling and passive methods in cooling and in preventing overheating with solar shading.
You can dimension the most common direct and indirect cooling systems.
You can dimension the most common heatpump systems and connect them to heating systems.
You can calculate the energy consumption of cooling systems and heatpumps according to the D5 simplified methods of the National Building Code.

Content

How do compressor cooling and heat pumps operate?
How is the compressor process presented in the log p, h diagram?
How to choose a refrigerant to a system and what kind of legislation relates to refrigerants?
What are the main components and equipment for the compressor process?
How to dimension and select pipe sizes and materials to compressor or free cooling systems?
How to avoid or minimise overheating hours with passive methods like solar shading?
How is the D5 method of energy consumption used in energy calculations?
What kind of things are important in dimensioning and selecting heatpumps?
